Throughout the years, many bird stories have unfolded in the garden. The most amazing of all, however, occurred at the very beginning—back when the garden was in the process of being planted, and there were no bird visitors at all. As with so many things connected to the garden, the story is both absolutely true and absolutely magical at the same time. It is called

From dawn to dusk, the garden is alive with the fluttering, chirping, and singing of birds. Some come to drink and bathe in the fountain. Others gorge themselves on fruits in season. 

Many spend the day foraging through the bark chips and darting beneath bushes, while others flock to the feeders. It is impossible to watch the birds of the garden for even a few minutes without falling under their spell.
